Just the title of this mysterious board certified endocrinologist’s website was enough to make me dive in and read every blog post and listen to every podcast he has done. “HD” as he calls himself has some strong opinions about today’s thyroid treatment and the overall mythical nature of common ideas that circulate on the internet.
The name of his website is Hormones Demystified, Separating Endocrinology From Quackery. I strongly encourage you to check it out. After reading his posts and listening to him on a few podcasts, I’ve decided that I appreciate his science based thoughts and opinions on thyroid treatment. Despite an often shared post of his, in opposition to T3 therapy, he is not against adding Liothyronine/Cytomel to T4. He is actually quite for it, especially in people that no longer have a thyroid.
Some of my favorite HD posts:
Here’s what he has to say about Adrenal fatigue. Quite eye opening I assure you!
And his thoughts on RT3.
His colorful post about alternative medicine.
He really does debunk thyroid internet myths on his website and that’s why I like it. We absolutely have to acknowledge that all things thyroid related have gotten out of hand, both online and by individuals (naturopaths, chiropractors, wellness coaches, Facebook thyroid groups etc). It really has to stop. People truly do get hurt by this false information.
*** Trigger Warning! If you are really wrapped up in a relationship with a Naturopath or Alt med provider, you probably won’t enjoy his site. If you are looking for a science based approach to understanding and treating your thyroid condition, then check him out.
